Cotton Supply, Demand and Prices:

• traditionally production closely matched consumption of Cotton historical 10 year average price rests around  0.52$ USD/lb
• 2009 Chinese crops were hurt by environmental issues (drought, flooding, etc)
• 2009 Indian government changed policy to promote increased conversion and lower quotas for raw fibre exports, shrinking supply globally of fibreTexas hailstorms damaged close to 700,000 bales in 2009
• Global demand for fibre outstripped Supply 2 consecutive yearsfinancial speculators got involved and influenced all commodity prices(soy, corn, cotton etc.
• predictions of increased acreage globally thus increasing production of cotton for 2011
